The Dallas Cowboys' season last year could best be described as a throwaway, with the "blow-it-up" concept in full flow and a host of injuries the roster suffered.
One such injury that was gut-wrenching was DeMarvion Overshown, who was on a Pro Bowl and potentially All-Pro trajectory as he and Micah Parsons became the dominant forces on Mike Zimmer's defense.
But now, after suffering his second ACL injury since being drafted in 2023, the heat-seaking missile of a linebacker has a long road back, with some reporting he might not even make it back in 2025.
Now, there is hope that at some stage in the second half of the 2025 season, the newly crowned "Agent Zero" will make his return, and when he does, he's ready for all the smoke.
In speaking with Patrik Walker of dallascowboys.com, Overshown made it crystal clear that upon his return, it's going to be Agent Zero's world.
"I'm expecting no drop off," Overshown said. "Just knowing what it takes to get back to the level of what I was playing at, knowing that I'm capable of that. I've been through this before. So that of course that helps, and just knowing what I'm going back to, it ain't my rookie year no more, last year it was still brand new to me, was like a kid in a little tiny pool.
"But now I'm a shark in the ocean, I can do what I want to in this league. So it's really just about getting healthy."
Overshown's emergence as a genuine game-wrecker - and as a fan favorite - was one of only a handful of positives for the Cowboys' defense as the former Texas Longhorn was doing as he pleased in Zimmer's defense.
After getting the taste for sacking the quarterback, Overshown was a menace. When he smelled blood in the water, he was a force of nature, his blistering speed allowing him to make tackles and sacks sometimes quicker than Micah.
Now he will be forced to sit on the sidelines for the first part of the year, but make no mistake; when he returns, there will be no warm-up for Agent Zero. He's after people's souls, and he intends to get them.
