As we get closer to the NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys' selections, for the most part, are reasonably set in stone for the first two rounds.
The consensus is receiver and running back could be Dallas' first two picks, considering the glaring needs at both positions.
Other needs include corner and possibly offensive line as Brian Schottenheimer begins to fill out his roster.
So they are the "biggest" and most reported needs for the Cowboys, but we offer one that might sneak up on people in the later rounds - tight end.
Why you say? Glad you asked.
Jake Ferguson is on the final year of his rookie deal, and we have to look no further than Dalton Schultz to see how the Cowboys might view his situation in 12 months time.
Plus, Luke Schoonmaker, who will be in Year 3 hasn't shown he is capable of being a consistent outlet in the passing game, despite his good run-blocking chops, and Brevy Spann-Ford is a developmental player who is entering his second season.
So there isn't a lot of positive juice coming from Lunda Wells' room. Of course, Ferguson dealt with injuries and a concussion last year, so a bounce-back year is on the cards, but we are approaching this from a wider lens with a look at possible options in the draft.
Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland are expected to be the first tight ends taken, with both thought to be gone in the first round, which is fine because Dallas has other needs early.
But what about rounds three and four? Options like Mason Taylor, Elijah Arroyo, or Harold Finnin Jr., who racked up 1,555 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns for Bowling Green last season?
All could be solid options in the later rounds if the Cowboys are unsure of their tight end room long-term.
Consider it a "sneaky'' potential dart throw, if you will.
