Cowboys star admits to dodging Eagles during 2021 pre-draft process
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NFL Draft is right around the corner which has Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons reminiscing on his draft process three years ago.

Parsons was selected 12th overall out of Penn State by the Cowboys in 2021, but had he not snubbed the Philadelphia Eagles during the pre-draft process -- things could have turned out differently for the three-time Pro Bowl edge.

Heading into the 2021 NFL Draft, the Eagles expressed a lot of interest in Parsons but the feeling wasn't mutual.

Parsons, a PA native, revealed on the most recent episode of his podcast, "The Edge With Micah Parsons," why he had zero desire to play for his hometown team.

“I didn’t want to stay home,” Parsons said, speaking to Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love. “Like true story, Dave called me like, yo you’re dealing with all this off the field stuff and you’re not even going to talk to Philly? I didn’t want to go home. So when Philly fans are talking to me like man bro I didn’t want to be home.

"It’s a lot bro, when you're at the crib everybody wants to come be in the mix, the influence, always wanting to go back home. At some point you've just got to be a man, I just wanted to get fresh. You've got to think I went to Penn State, it was time for me to get out of Pennsylvania."

The craziest part is that the Eagles traded Dallas for the 10th overall pick and skipped over Parsons to snag Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith at No. 10 overall in the  2021 NFL Draft.

Now, one has to wonder whether or not things would have turned out differently if Parsons had shown up for his interview that day.

But the Eagles can't be too mad about their decision considering Smith has been nothing short of a solid pick for the franchise.
