Cowboys star LB ranks atop PFF's 'top 25 players under 25' list

Cowboys star third-year linebacker Micah Parsons continues inserting himself into the NFL's best pass-rusher conversation.

Pro Football Focus released its annual list of "top 25 players under 25." Parsons ranked as the No. 1 edge-rusher and top player overall.

"His 92.0 pass-rush grade and 23.4 pass-rush win percentage in 2022 were just slightly behind his 93.0 grade and 24.8 percent win rate the previous season," wrote PFF's Trevor Sikkema."But he maintained those high numbers while playing 281 more pass-rush snaps in 2022."

Parsons, a 2021 Defensive Rookie of The Year, also sustained his high sack total. In 17 games last season, he registered 13.5 sacks, seventh in the NFL.

After Parsons finished second in Defensive Player of The Year voting behind San Francisco's Nick Bosa, he's continuing to emphasize his pass-rushing skills this offseason.

Parsons recently trained with former Bengals and Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth, a four-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion. The 23-year-old impressed Whitworth.

"The dude is different," Whitworth told Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. "He was so excited to be doing the work the whole time, just to try to find that little thing he needed, and that's unique — to be as good as he is but still so hungry to find that next edge."

Parsons' offseason workouts should benefit him. Per OddsChecker, he has the best Defensive Player of the Year odds.

If Parsons captured the award for the first time, it would bode well for the Cowboys. Dallas is trying to end a 27-year Super Bowl drought, so it needs peak performance from Parsons.
