Cowboys star Micah Parsons sends strong message to front office

Dallas Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons broke his silence after not taking any interviews or hosting his podcast with Bleacher Report since his team's loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Up until Wednesday, Parsons' vocal self was missing beyond a moment or two on Twitter/X, where he isn't afraid to call out people following games, win or lose.

This time, however, Parsons made some strong comments about the state of the team. Particularly, Micah let it be known

"It sucks and you know, you know, sitting here and (Jerry Jones) talking about we're going all in this year, man, I swear I will hope for (it)," Parsons said on his podcast The Edge. "I'm 24 years old. I've been in this league, you know, three years and I kind of seen it all and I hope that we go all in I hope that we go out and get the players that were missing because we didn't do that this year."

That last sentence is certainly a big one. When Jones claims the Cowboys are going "all-in," fans and media who have been around for years understand it's a promise he's unlikely to keep. At least over the last three decades, it hasn't been the way they approach team building.

But Parsons is taking Jones' words at face value and thus is even pointing out how Dallas didn't "get the players that we are missing in 2023." Inadvertent or not, that's calling out your front office and calling a spade a spade. They were missing players and the Cowboys didn't do it.

We'll see how that sits with the team's executives and more importantly, if they deliver on their new promise.

Did Parsons take a shot at DC Dan Quinn?

Speaking of calling out people, I don't believe Parsons was trying to intentionally throw Quinn under the bus when he discussed the possibility of playing linebacker but he sure didn't made him look great.

"(Media members are) saying well why don't you go to linebacker because they said you can stop the run," Parsons added." Well, guess what? The packages are in for me to go to linebacker, there's multiple packages, multiple variations. But I can only play what it's called. Whatever they're calling, whoever personnel they're putting on. I'm not putting out personnel. I'm not putting out the calls. Nothing's coming from me. So you can put that and put that wherever you want to be, or wherever you want to put it, but they're not coming from me. The packages are in."

"I've even told multiple players coaches that I'm very fine playing linebacker in the playoffs if that's what y'all want me to do," he added. "I just want to win."

It's more likely that Parsons was simply trying to shield himself from criticisms about him not being willing to play linebacker rather than putting Quinn on blast, to be honest. So I'd say it wasn't a shot at the Cowboys defensive coordinator.

Playing Parsons at linebacker or edge rusher has been the cause for debate going back to his rookie year. Following a rough second half versus the Packers' running game, it only has gotten louder.
