Cowboys Stunning Pickens Trade Disproves Ridiculous 'Tupperware' Theory

FRISCO — National pundits love the games they play with the Dallas Cowboys. Frankly, the Cowboys have no issue providing the narratives at times to help them play.

Perhaps the most popular is the classic implementation of Dallas as a talking point, even at their worst, then turning around to ask why that same team is worthy of any discussion or attention.

NFL Network's Kyle Brandt pulled this exact trick this week, labeling the Cowboys the "Tupperware" of the league.

“They are currently like the Tupperware of teams,” he said. “It’s just something you have.

"You don’t think about it. You don’t care about it. You put the spaghetti in it. You put it in the fridge. You have no attachment to it at all. It just serves a practical need of being one of the teams in the NFC East."

And there lies the irony of making a team unworthy of conversation into a topic of major interest. Nonetheless, the Cowboys made a mockery of that argument Wednesday morning.

Dallas traded for former Pittsburgh Steelers No. 1 George Pickens, adding to their offensive arsenal while plugging a hole on the wide receiver depth chart with a new No. 2.

The Cowboys now surround their top 10 quarterback in Dak Prescott with a lethal pass catching combo of Pickens and CeeDee Lamb. There are some concerns in Pickens' integration into the locker room along with the long-term plans, but the trade stands firm as a slam dunk for Dallas.

Such a move is bound for an increased level of discourse. The Cowboys' offseason thus far has positioned them much better to compete in the NFC gauntlet in 2025.

By their nature, the Cowboys are not a "Tupperware" team because all their decisions are met with constant scrutiny on the largest scales. Even their choice to not do anything at all has sparked skepticism and questions from outside The Star.

This time, they did not wait idly by. Instead, they put their most apparent rivals on notice with a bold move that has captivated the NFL audience.
