Cowboys To Extend WR Ryan Flournoy

This is the second extension of the evening for the Cowboys, who agreed to a three-year, $18MM contract with tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford a few hours ago. Both players entered the NFL in 2024, but unlike the undrafted Spann-Ford, the Cowboys spent a pick on Flournoy. He joined the team as a sixth-round selection out of Southeast Missouri State.

Flournoy did not make the Cowboys’ initial 53-man roster as a rookie, but he stuck around on the practice squad and ended up appearing in 11 games. Over 156 snaps, the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder caught 10 of 14 targets for 102 yards. Flournoy also saw action on 140 special teams snaps.

The Cowboys traded for former Steelers receiver George Pickens months before the 2025 season, locking him in as a starter opposite CeeDee Lamb. Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin and Jonathan Mingo were also in the fold, but Flournoy took a big leap in Year 2 and handily outproduced all three of them. While playing 16 games and a little over 40% of offensive snaps (third among Cowboys receivers, trailing Pickens and Lamb), Flournoy hauled in 40 of 56 targets for 475 yards and four scores.

After Flournoy emerged as a solid complement to the excellent Pickens-Lamb duo last season, he will go into this year locked in as the Cowboys’ third receiver. Flournoy had been on track to become a restricted free agent next offseason, but extending him now gives Dallas one fewer item to address in 2027. The price could end up as a bargain if the soon-to-be 27-year-old Flournoy takes another step forward this season.
