The Dallas Cowboys dropped to 3-4-1 on the season after losing to the Denver Broncos by 20 points in their Week 8 showdown on Sunday.
Once again, Dallas' league-worst defense doomed the team, allowing the Broncos to score 44 points. Denver quarterback Bo Nix looked unstoppable with four touchdowns against just one interception, completing 19 of his 29 passes for 247 yards.
Running back RJ Harvey also had two touchdowns on the ground for Denver after rushing seven times for 46 yards.
It didn't help Dallas that their NFL-best offense wasn't as potent as it has been. Against one of the best defenses in the league, Dak Prescott failed to hit a passing touchdown and even threw two interceptions. The Cowboys ended up scoring just 24 points in the loss.
A day after the game, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his disappointment with how his team performed, adding that he wasn't able to sleep thinking about what he could have done differently.
That being said, Schottenheimer told reporters that there will be "changes" to the team, although he didn't specify what he'll do.
"There will be changes," Schottenheimer shared, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. "No one is pleased. No one is happy with the way we played yesterday. It’s not acceptable. The standard was not met."
It's likely that Schottenheimer is referring only to strategic changes, especially since the Cowboys failed to adjust on both ends in their loss to the Broncos.
However, with the Nov. 4 trade deadline nearing, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on the Cowboys and what they will do. For what it's worth, team owner Jerry Jones has said after the loss that he's open to making a trade if it can actually help the franchise.
For now, fans can only wait and see what the Cowboys will do as they look to improve their standing in the NFC.
