Dallas Cowboys receiver George Pickens came to Brian Schottenheimer's team with a reputation of being a rather fiery customer.
With a narrative painted about George that has some questioning the trade to get him to The Star, the receiver has gone about his business with aplomb, and everything we've heard since OTAs goes in the opposite direction of what was said about him in Pittsburgh.
Now, it is important to remember that no adversity has hit yet, but the feel-good vibes and loving nature of Pickens have shone through at training camp. His teammates, and Schottenheimer have been glowing in their endorsement of George the player and the person.
And now here comes offensive coordinator Klayton Adams.
“GP's awesome," Adams said. "I really like having him around. He's a big personality, he's fun. The two most important qualities to me is do you love football and are you a good teammate? And both of those things he's been 100% so far."
The "good teammate" quote there sends the right message.
With Schottenheimer preaching a family attitude, it looks like George feels at home, and when asked on 105.3 The Fan if he wanted to make Dallas his permanent home, he stated he wants it to be.
So that shows what Schottenheimer is building here, and yes, Pickens' on-field talent is clear, but we are starting to see the type of person he is off the field, and in truth, we aren't sure which one is more impressive.
But one thing is for certain: George loves being a Cowboy, and the Cowboys love having George as part of their football family.
