Cowboys Urged to Sign Daniel Jones Following Giants Release

After nearly six years as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, the team announced that they have decided to release Daniel Jones. The former No. 6 overall was recently sent to the bench in favor of Tommy DeVito.

Jones fell all the way down to QB4 on the roster once the Giants signed Tim Boyle, so the writing was on the wall. Instead of waiting until after the season, Jones went to team management and asked for a release, according to a statement released by Giants President John Mara.

While the veteran quarterback has had his struggles, he'll be the best quarterback on the free agent market if he's able to clear waivers.

The Dallas Cowboys lost Dak Prescott for the season and Cooper Rush has gone 0-2 since taking over as the starter. They've seen Jones a lot over the years and should be familiar with his game.

Longtime Cowboys reporter Clarence Hill Jr. took to X to push Dallas to sign Jones to a contract.

"Cowboys go get Daniel Jones. Let’s have fun," Hill wrote.

If Jones clears waivers, he should be willing to come to a team on a small contract so he wouldn't be an expensive option. He could also sit in free agency and see if a more appealing job opens up in the coming weeks.
