Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb makes bold claim after achieving historic feat

After another scintillating performance in Sunday's victory over the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb dropped a bold take.

"I'm the top receiver in this game, and there is no question about it," Lamb said following the 49-17 win, per David Moore of The Dallas Morning News. "If there is, I'll see you again next week."

That's a brash claim from Lamb. Several wideouts could argue they're the No. 1 WR in the NFL, such as Philadelphia's A.J. Brown and Miami's Tyreek Hill. The Cowboys star, however, has proved he belongs in the same company.

Per The Athletic, Lamb is the first player in league history with three straight games of 10 or more receptions and 150 or more yards. Against the Giants, he recorded 11 receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown. He added a 14-yard rushing TD.

"It's really cool when you see CeeDee or a player just really hit his stride," Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said in a postgame news conference. "He's going to be doing that for a long time. With [quarterback] Dak Prescott, I think you have a guy you can grow with. Not only is it great for those two, but it's great for the whole group because it raises the standard everybody has to play to."

After an embarrassing Week 5 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Lamb vented about his lack of targets. Clearly, the coaching staff listened. The former first-round pick is on track to finish with career highs in receptions (128) and receiving yards (1,841)

Don't be surprised if the 24-year-old keeps flourishing and builds a strong Offensive Player of the Year case. As of Monday, oddschecker gives him the sixth-best odds of winning the award.
