Crazy stat about Mike Williams goes viral after his retirement

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams has decided to retire, and the surprising news has called attention to one of the most impressive statistics you will ever see.

Williams informed the Chargers on Wednesday night that he is retiring after eight NFL seasons. The 30-year-old had returned to L.A. on a one-year deal in March after spending the 2024 season split between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Assuming Williams remains retired, he will have gone his entire NFL career without losing a fumble. Williams did, however, intercept a pass, which means he is an offensive skill player who somehow has more interceptions than fumbles in his career.

Williams played in 106 games during his career. He had 330 catches and 10 carries, so he touched the ball 340 times without ever losing a fumble. That is certainly something to be proud of.

Williams, who had two seasons with 1,000 or more receiving yards, averaged 15.5 yards per reception across eight seasons and was known for being a deep threat. Most fans probably did not realize how impressive he was in the ball security department. The aforementioned stat is a great way of calling attention to that part of his game.
