The NFL has officially been around for over 100 years and that means some true legends have passed through the league over the past century.

It is easy to get caught up in past greats when determining the greatest of all time.

However, NFL legend and current analyst Cris Carter thinks the GOAT is in the league right now.

He said as much in a segment on Good Morning Football regarding the league’s “brightest star.”

Carter believes Tom Brady is the best to ever play the game and given the quarterback’s dominant play at his current age, it is hard to disagree.

Brady’s Resume As The Brightest

Brady would have gone down as an all-time great even if he retired years ago.

Yet he has kept playing and proved last year that he wasn’t winning Super Bowls solely because of Bill Belichick.

He is showing no signs of slowing down and could play for several more years.

There are NFL teams without so much as a Super Bowl appearance.

Brady has won seven Super Bowl rings and has a great shot to add an eighth before calling it quits.

Admiring him in the present is almost necessary because he has been in the NFL since 2000.

If one waits to discuss his GOAT status, it may take years to have that conversation.

And in general, the GOAT debate in any sport is a never-ending argument that can rage on for years.

That is the beauty of sports talk shows.

Carter can make this claim, fans can react, and the conversation goes from there.

But it is worth noting that Carter’s claim was not a hot take at all.

In the scope of the NFL, the league’s brightest star likely is the quarterback who has not slowed down over the course of two decades.
