Crucial and impactful injury update comes about for key Browns player who is going to be given another great opportunity in 2025

The Cleveland Browns took a step back last season in an area that had long been one of their strengths: the offensive line.

Cleveland’s line wasn’t the same in its first year without long-time offensive line coach Bill Callahan, who departed to join the Tennessee Titans. Injuries also played a major role, and staying healthy will be critical if the Browns hope to take a step forward in 2025.

One of the blows came when Dawand Jones suffered a season-ending broken fibula. Now entering his third season, Jones needs to stay healthy to lockdown a role with the Browns, and Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot recently provided a promising update on his recovery.

“Browns offensive tackle Dawand Jones, who suffered a broken fibula in Week 11 against the Saints that required surgery, is back working out in the voluntary offseason program and preparing to start the season at left tackle,” Cabot wrote recently. “Jones, who missed the last seven games of the season, is at a good weight and poised to pick up where he left off when he started three games at left tackle last season.”

The former Ohio State Buckeye being at a healthy playing weight is encouraging—Jones should not be playing above 370 pounds in the NFL. After spending his rookie year on the right side, he now has a chance to become a long-term solution at left tackle. The Browns allowed Jedrick Wills Jr. to hit free agency, where he remains unsigned, while veteran Jack Conklin is expected to hold down the right tackle spot for at least one more season.

Jones has appeared in 21 games over his first two seasons and is looking to finally put it all together for Cleveland in 2025.
