Dak Prescott, Cowboys Receive Exciting Update Before Commanders Game

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys dropped to 2-3-1 following a 30-27 Week 6 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Prescott threw for 261 yards, three touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 124.8 passer rating.

He put up those numbers without several key offensive starters, including wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (ankle), wide receiver KaVontae Turpin (foot) and offensive guard Tyler Booker (ankle). Lamb and Booker have both been out since Week 3, after sustaining their injuries against the Chicago Bears.

The Cowboys and Prescott are now looking to bounce back with a Week 7 NFC East showdown against the 3-3 Washington Commanders.

During Dallas' first practice of the week on Wednesday, team staff writer Tommy Yarrish reported that Lamb, Turpin and Booker all participated.

Yarrish highlighted it's a step in the right direction, writing "This feels like the healthiest the #Cowboys have been since Week 1, especially if they’re able to get the trio of Lamb, Turpin and Booker back Sunday against Washington," in a separate X post.

Each could serve as a big piece to the Cowboys' offense in different ways. Booker, the team's first-round pick in 2025, has earned a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 65, ranking 32nd out of 109 offensive guards.

Lamb, a four-time Pro Bowler, is one of Prescott's most trusted receivers. Despite not playing since Week 3, he's racked up 16 receptions and 222 yards on 24 targets.

Turpin's role in the Cowboys' offense has been noticeable, appearing in four games with 13 targets, 11 receptions, 159 yards and one touchdown.

Against the Commanders, Prescott has the opportunity to build on his 1,617 yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions to start the 2025 season. Potentially having back two reliable wide receivers and a starting offensive lineman would be a big boost.

Kickoff between the Cowboys and Commanders is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium, airing on Fox.
