Dak Prescott grew up Peyton Manning fan, didn't like Tom Brady

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott recently admitted that he "idolizes" Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. However, that wasn't always the case.

Prescott told NBC's Maria Taylor that he grew up a fan of Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and, because of that, disliked Brady. However, he added that it didn't take long for him to develop a high level of respect and admiration for the seven-time Super Bowl champion.

Prescott's comments come after Brady spoke candidly about his Week 1 opponent with reporters earlier this week.

"He's a really talented player," Brady said. "Really since the day he came into the league, he's shown to be a great leader for the team. We're just expecting him to play like Dak Prescott does – very talented, loose in the pocket, throws a good ball, they have a lot talented skill players.

"Dak's a great player. They have one of the best offenses and a very talented defense, they're very deep at linebacker, they have a good push up front and I think they have a very talented secondary. It's a big challenge for our team."

Brady and Prescott have met once before, with Brady's New England Patriots defeating the Cowboys 13-9 at Gillette Stadium in November 2019. In that game, Brady threw for 190 yards and a touchdown, while Prescott had 212 yards passing, no touchdowns and an interception.

In total, Brady is 5-0 in his career against the Cowboys and 5-1 in season-opening games coming off a Super Bowl victory. The Bucs are the betting favorite to win Thursday night's game against Dallas, per DraftKings Sportsbook
