Dak Prescott points to the one thing fans should keep in mind about Micah Parsons' exhausting negotiations with Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys' negotiation process for a Micah Parsons contract extension has become predictably exhausting.

Jerry Jones fired shots in the team's opening press conference, which were promptly returned by the star pass rusher. It's been a headline-grabbinng affair that fans are likely fed up with having lived it with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb under a year ago.

That's why I went ahead and put together a "No B.S." breakdown of things over at our YouTube channel. It's probably also why Dak Prescott just pointed out the one thing fans should keep in mind as the two parties continue negotiations.

"I think he deserves to get paid and going off of the history of what I've seen, he will get paid," Prescott said via Patrik Walker from DallasCowboys.com.

It's a small comment yet an important one considering what Parsons said earlier in the week. For the first time since negotiations begun, the star pass rusher was seemingly open to playing elsewhere in the future if a deal didn't happen.

"If they don't want me here, they don't want me here," Parsons told reporters. "If this is the end, this is the end, same way the Jones [. . .] take care of their family, same way I need to take care of my family."

Prescott took a similar public stance at training camp last year before signing a deal that would make him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. The quarterback has a point: At this point, we know this is the game the Joneses like to play.

But dragging out negotiations hasn't been a sign that they  don't want to secure players for the long run, just that they (probably) enjoy the national coverage week in and week out.

Things got ugly with Dak (twice) and CeeDee Lamb but the Cowboys signed both to humongous deals. Despite public comments, I expect the same to be true for Parsons.

Do I agree with the way the Cowboys do business? Heck no. Like Parsons, I don't understand it. But this is what they do.

"It's an every year conversation," Prescott said. "I don't know if there's a correct way to handle it, to be honest with you."
