The NFL's annual Top 100 Players list is rolling out once again, with spots 80 through 71 recently revealed on Monday.
And ...
Coming in at No. 79 on the NFL.com list is Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, marking the team's first appearance on the list this year. Prescott took a notable slide from his No. 16 ranking in 2024, which could be attributed to him being limited to just eight games last season due to a hamstring injury.
“You can’t fault him for getting hurt,” Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Casey Rodgers said. “You know it’s not his fault that he had an injury, but you know, he was doing really well, and he’s proven in the past that he’s a really good quarterback.”
Prescott is to many without a doubt a franchise quarterback that you can build an offense around and was on pace for his fourth career 4,000 yard passing season at the time of his injury.
“He’s an elite athlete. One of the best to do it—that’s why he has a job,” Rodgers continued.
The Cowboys head signal-caller will now have an opportunity to remind everyone - including Dallas fans hopeful of a massive comeback following another injury-marred season - why he is the league’s highest paid quarterback in new head coach Brian Schottenheimer’s system.
The addition of wide receiver George Pickens and the reinforcement of the offensive line with first-round rookie Tyler Booker should give Prescott the support he needs to return to All-Pro form.
If Prescott stays healthy and finds his groove in a new offensive system, don’t be surprised to see the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback much higher on next year’s list and - again, if Cowboys Nation gets its wish - possibly leading the Cowboys on a deep postseason run.
