Key Points:

  • Dak Prescott had a stark message for critics of Dallas' defense
  • The Cowboys won handily in Dallas vs. Washington
  • A showdown with the Eagles looms large

The Dallas Cowboys surpassed their NFC East rivals the Washington Commanders in the standings on Sunday with a 44-22 home win that included strong performances from the usual suspects in Big D.

Quarterback Dak Prescott completed 21-of-30 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns.

Lamb missed the Cowboys' last game against the Bears but came roaring back on Sunday with 110 yards and a touchdown on eight catches against Washington.

Following the game, Prescott was asked about the Cowboys' embattled defense. He had a stark, direct response that showcased his leadership skills as he fired back at its critics.

Prescott Sends His Message

Prescott spoke alongside Lamb after the game.

"It feels great, everybody's just doing their part," Prescott said about the Cowboys' offense before being asked about the defense by Fox's Tom Rinaldi.

"There's been a lot of scrutiny and a lot of criticism about the other side of the ball here, what did your defense show you today?" Rinaldo asked Prescott.

"Yeah they shut up a lot of that criticism, came out and got the ball, had a defensive touchdown...20 points? It was a great performance by them...When we're scoring and they're stopping, games should look like this," Prescott added.

Cowboys One Month Out From Eagles Showdown

The Cowboys have a Nov. 23 game against the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles still left to play on their schedule with three games up next before the marquee matchup.

Next week is a road trip to Denver followed by a home game against the Cardinals and a road game against the Raiders.

Prescott and the Cowboys aren't on the same level as Nick Sirianni's team according to most media experts but they have the look of a team that can make the Eagles sweat and perhaps challenge them for the division crown at some point this season.

The Cowboys' cohesiveness on both sides of the ball, with Prescott setting the tone, is expected to be their calling card as they continue to fight for position with other talented NFC East teams.
