Dallas Cowboys 2025 Schedule Release: Latest news fuels suspicion surrounding international game in the horizon

Ahead of the full 2025 NFL schedule release on Wednesday, the league has announced several key showdowns, including the Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles Kickoff

Some of the matchups that have been officially released include this year's international games, as the league gears up to play in five countries outside the United States. Tuesday's updates confirm the Cowboys won't be playing abroad, though some believed "visiting" the New York Jets was an option.

The news fuels suspicion about the Cowboys potentially playing in Mexico once the league returns to first country it ever played an international game in. The league is expected to make its return in 2026 once renovations to the iconic Estadio Azteca are finished for FIFA's 2026 World Cup.

"Pittsburgh will be headed to Dublin, Ireland, (in 2025)," insider John Sutcliffe reported on ESPN Mexico's broadcast of January's Bengals-Steelers matchup. "The Cowboys would go (to Mexico) in 2026."

Jerry Jones has often expressed interest in having the Cowboys play in Mexico due to the large fanbase in the country. Mexico owns the record for highest-attendance ever to an NFL game, which was set in a 1994 preseason matchup between the Cowboys and Houston Oilers at 112,736.

The NFL halted games in Mexico amid the COVID pandemic and resumed in 2022 with a matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers but hasn't returned since due to a rocky process of renovations around Estadio Azteca.

There's no question the league is interested in returning and when it does—likely in 2026 as renovations are projected to be done by next March—the Cowboys have a legit shot at being one of the teams to do so, even if it means giving up a home game.

If so, you can expect that to feel like a home game for the Cowboys.
