The Dallas Cowboys needed to address their interior defensive line depth this offseason after moving on from multiple players. Dallas traded Osa Odighizuwa to San Francisco and Solomon Thomas to Tennessee, and released Perrion Winfrey. The Cowboys did sign former Chargers defensive tackle Otito Ogbonnia, joining Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark, Jay Toia, and Adedayo Odeleye as the five interior defenders under contract. However, the depth outside of the three projected starters is inexperienced, with Toia logging just 90 defensive snaps, while Odeleye has yet to play in a single regular-season game.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Cowboys have signed Jonathan Bullard to a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million on Saturday, the same day as his late grandmother’s birthday. His grandmother, Joyce Robbs, helped raise him and played an influential role in his life growing up, and was a massive Cowboys fan, the one who would holler at the TV. Sadly, Joyce passed away in 2012 at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer while he was a freshman at the University of Florida. Bullard has since honored her by representing the American Cancer Society for the “My Cause My Cleats” initiative.

Jonathan Bullard is on his seventh team, entering his eleventh year in the NFL. He brings depth and experience with over 60 career starts and 7.5 sacks, including the playoffs. Bullard is expected to play an important role in the Cowboys’ rotation in 2026, either as a starter or as a fill-in when the starters need a break.

Here’s a quick review of his 2025 campaign

The New Orleans Saints signed Jonathan Bullard to a one-year contract, a week before training camp last July. He served as a rotational piece, logging the fourth-most snaps at the position and primarily playing on early downs rather than on obvious passing downs, with 209 run-defense stops compared to 116 pass-rushing snaps. Bullard recorded 26 tackles and four TFLs across 15 games, including six starts, accounting for 327 snaps. He also posted 14 run stops, a 6.8% stop rate, three pressures, and a 0.9% pass-rush win rate.
