The Dallas Cowboys are looking to make it back-to-back wins on Sunday as they take on the Chicago Bears in a road game at Soldier Field. The Cowboys are coming off a thrilling 40-37 overtime win against the New York Giants in Week 2, and are hoping to improve to 2-1 with another win against a Bears side that has yet to taste victory this season.
All-Pro place kicker Brandon Aubrey has played a key role in Dallas’ early-season success thus far. On Wednesday, the two-time Pro Bowler was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after turning in an awe-inspiring performance against New York. Aubrey helped lead Dallas to a win over Chicago with 4-of-4 completed field goals, while also scoring on all four of his extra-point attempts for a total of 16 points.
The former Notre Dame standout also scored a 64-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to force overtime, and a 46-yard game-winner as time expired in the extra period.
Aubrey wasted no time making his mark in Sunday’s game. He got the Cowboys off the mark at the 4:21 mark of the first quarter with a 53-yard field goal. The team took to social media to announce another career milestone for their star kicker.
“With that 53-yard field goal, Brandon Aubrey now has 28 career makes from 50-plus yards, passing Dan Bailey for the most 50-yard field goals in franchise history,” Dallas Cowboys Public Relations posted on X.
Dan Bailey, a one-time Pro Bowler, was an all-time great kicker for Dallas, and for Aubrey to surpass him for an all-time franchise record in the latter’s third season speaks volumes about Aubrey’s impact on the team.
Aubrey doubled his tally early in the second quarter with a 33-yard field goal to record his second score of the game.
The Cowboys scored another TD several minutes later, while also converting a two-point attempt to tie the game. Chicago answered back with a field goal shortly after. As of writing, the Bears are up, 17-14, with two minutes remaining in the first half.
