Dallas Cowboys Brandin Cooks Hypes Up Unexpected Player At OTAs
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys go into the 2024 season under immense pressure. After another disappointing playoff exit, the team looks to make another run with the future of the team up in the air. While the Cowboys have one of the best receivers in the league in CeeDee Lamb, the best offenses have multiple weapons that can devastate a defense. Dallas hasn’t had anyone step up in recent years, but receiver Brandin Cooks thinks that is about to change. He hyped up fellow wide receiver Jalen Tolbert after practice.

Dallas Cowboys WR Jalen Tolbert Hyped By Teammate

Jalen Tolbert was a third-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2022 NFL Draft. The hope was he would become a quality WR3 especially after Michael Gallup didn’t return to form after his injury. He hasn’t been able to produce in his first two seasons. Last season, he played in all 17 games but only had 22 receptions for 268 yards and two touchdowns. Brandin Cooks thinks this could be his breakout year.

“He’s ready to go,” Cooks said of his teammate. “Whatever the expectation is for him out there, I’m telling you he’s going to crush it. He’s ready.”

With Lamb absent from the Dallas Cowboys OTAs as he looks for a new contract, the young receiver is getting more looks in OTAs. He is confident he has the trust of the team and, more importantly, the trust of Dak Prescott.

Can Tolbert Make The Offense More Dangerous?

If the Dallas Cowboys can get another quality receiver next to Lamb, this offense will be tough to stop. One of the reasons many have optimism about Jalen Tolbert is he has been around two great receivers in Lamb and Cooks. He talked about what it means to be on the field with them day in and day out.

“That’s my goal, to go out and prove to myself; I am who I say I am. Obviously, you hear that all the time. But just go out there and chase greatness. I have two guys who ride along with me in CeeDee and B. Cooks, and I’m looking forward to following in their footsteps and doing what I can to create value on this team.”

The Dallas Cowboys are hoping Jalen Tolbert can be a real factor in the offense in 2024. In his rookie year, a hamstring injury kept him off the field, but he was able to play in every game last season. If he can continue to build on his success and earn the trust of the coaches, we could see a breakout year from the young receiver. If that happens, the Cowboys could nab a top spot in the NFC yet again.
