Jerry Jones was probably giddy when he saw the stands filled with fans ahead Saturday's Dallas Cowboys training camp practice. Being the first weekend practice and the team's inaugural ceremony, people from Oxnard, California showed up big time.
The feeling wasn't reciprocal. At least not for a handful of fans that proceeded to heckle the Cowboys owner as he addressed the fans.
"Pay Micah!," yelled multiple fan as Jones said he was shocked to see the Cowboys underperform in 2024.

According to multiple reporters, including ESPN's Todd Archer, fans also yelled "Jerry, sign Micah," and another "sell the team." Archer added as a check worth $25,000 was presented to the city of Oxnard, another fan yelled it was Micah's contract. Jones didn't stop to sign autographs for fans as he does most years.
Parsons and the Cowboys are negotiating a contract extension expected to make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. The process has drawn plenty of criticism from fans and media members alike given how uncommon it is for a player of Micah's caliber to not be extended after his third year in the league. Parsons is entering his fifth year in the NFL.
Jones and Parsons exchanged jabs through the media earlier in the week, with the latter going as far as saying "if they don't want me here, they don't want me here."
Parsons decided not to hold out from training camp and he's been around for practice though he's not participating in drills. His presence in Oxnard has been applauded by many given how most players in his situation would've opted to not show up. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb held out last year while negotiating a $136 million contract.
Cowboys fans are reasonably frustrated with the front office's way of doing things, in large part because they're not gaining much out of waiting other than consistent national media coverage around Parsons' expected deal.
The Cowboys will hold their first padded practice on Sunday and their best player won't be participating. Heckling the man responsible for it is understandable, to say the least.
