According to a new study by The Action Network, Dallas Cowboys fans rank No. 1 in gameday noise, along with other things. Read on for the full study.

Dallas Cowboys Fans Rank No. 1 in Gameday Noise
The Cowboys’ fans have a reputation for being loud, among other things, but The Action Network’s new study shows it’s not just a reputation.

Using a “Loudness Index” that blends attendance consistency, capacity fill rates, online fan engagement, and stadium acoustics,The Action Network found that Cowboys fans rank No. 1 as the loudest in the league — by a wide margin.

Dallas is the only team averaging over 115% capacity across home games. Dallas had nearly 93,000 fans per game last season, with a minimum week-to-week drop off. Cowboys’ fans are one of the NFL’s largest and most active online fanbases.

AT&T Stadium is an enclosed stadium that traps and amplifies sound. Dallas is nearly twice as loud as the second-place team, the Minnesota Vikings, thanks to the U.S. Bank Stadium —a stadium that amplifies and contains noise more than any other stadium.

The Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs complete the top five list. The Seahawks rank No. 3, pairing near-full attendance every home game with a noisy Lumen Field. The Lions rank No. 4, combining near-perfect attendance every home game with Ford Field’s enclosed design that magnifies crowd noise. The Chiefs rank No. 5, with an average above 100% capacity every home game and open, sound seating that keeps noise enclosed.

Dallas Cowboys’ Outlook
The Cowboys’ outlook appears to be a mixed bag. The Cowboys are eliminated from playoff contention, currently hold a 7-8 record, and face the rival New York Giants on Sunday, Jan. 4 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

As of Tuesday, Dallas is favored to beat New York in the upcoming rivalry matchup. Dallas’ strong defense and offensive capabilities will likely give them an advantage. New York’s offense has been inconsistent.

Dallas released two-time Pro Bowler, cornerback Trevon Diggs, after giving him a five-year, $97 million contract extension in July 2023. Dallas’ release of Diggs, 27, was the peak of multiple issues, such as his performance on and off the field.

The 27-year-old is the younger brother of New England Patriots cornerback Stefon Diggs, who is currently facing charges of felony strangulation and assault. The 27-year-old’s future plan is to continue playing this season if the opportunity is there.

Final Thoughts
The Cowboys’ fans are known for flocking to home games, maxing out stadium capacity, and hurting ears stadium-wide. The team’s fans are also known for their raucous, rowdy reputations.

In contrast, there’s a quieter end of the league. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rank at No. 32. Raymond James Stadium posts solid attendance numbers, but its open-air design allows crowd noise to dissipate more easily than enclosed stadiums.

The Tennessee Titansrank at No. 31. Nissan Stadium sees fluctuating capacity fill rates across the season, limiting sustained crowd intensity during key game moments.

The Carolina Panthers rank at No. 30. Bank of America Stadium features a large seating bowl, but unsteady attendance and open-air acoustics reduce overall noise impact.

The Jacksonville Jaguars rank at No. 29. Despite occasional spikes in attendance, inconsistency across home games keeps overall loudness scores lower.

The New England Patriots rank at No. 28. Gillette Stadium maintains steady crowds, but its stadium design and sound dispersion cap peak noise levels.
