Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Football Breakdown in Week 5

As the clock ticks to kickoff in Week 5, some of us may be scrambling to set our lineups, so let’s dive into a Dallas Cowboys fantasy football breakdown as they take on the Jets.

Thanks to an explosive offensive resurgence to start the 2025 campaign, Dallas’s stars have become top-notch fantasy weapons.

Yes, the lengthy injury report this week certainly hurts some, but we saw high-scoring performances even with CeeDee Lamb out last week against Green Bay.

Here, we’ll rank the top fantasy plays from America’s Team in this critical week 5.

1. George Pickens: Touchdown Machine Just Keeps Improving

After a quiet performance against the Philadelphia Eagles to start the season, George Pickens has become the top Cowboys fantasy football play over time.

In back-to-back weeks, he put up 17.8 points on five catches for 68 yards and a touchdown, before exploding against the Packers last time out. Yes, he did have the exact same stat line two weeks in a row.

With Lamb absent, Pickens has clearly stepped into the WR1 role, and it is paying dividends when it comes to fantasy.

He will be patched up with All-Pro Sauce Gardner this week, but I expect Dallas to feed him regardless.

Pickens is an obvious start in all leagues in Week 5 and beyond.

2. Javonte Williams: Career Revival Keeps Fantasy Relevance High

To this point in the 2025 season, Javonte Williams is proving to be the best Cowboys free agent addition in years.

The former Denver Bronco has had a full-on career revival in Dallas, and it’s showing up in his fantasy output. Excluding the Chicago game, where he still had double-digit points and 76 rushing yards, Williams has scored at least 19 points in every week.

In short, he is quickly becoming an RB1-level player in fantasy football.

With the offensive line banged up and the Jets’ defensive line strong, we could expect a slight regression from Williams, but I doubt it. I think we see Brian Schottenheimer rely on him to ease pressure on their quarterback.

3. Dak Prescott: MVP-Like Play Makes For Strong QB1 Play In Fantasy

Speaking of the quarterback, let’s dive into Dak Prescott and his fantasy standing this week.

Dallas’s QB1 has been fantastic on the field and has put up two stellar fantasy performances as well. Prescott scored over 52 points combined between Week 2 and Week 4, and he’s becoming hard to bench.

If the injury issues in Dallas impact anyone, however, it is Dak. Nearly the entire starting offensive line is out this week, and KaVontae Turpin is on the sidelines for the first time this year.

He remains a top Cowboys fantasy football option, and I certainly can’t knock you for starting him, but we may see a natural decrease from last week, all things considered, this time around.

4: Jake Ferguson: Touchdown-Drought Over, Catches Craze Continues

After a dreadful 2024 season, we are finally getting the old Jake Ferguson on Sundays, and it’s bringing his fantasy relevance back. It was fair to expect a bounce-back from last year, but even the biggest “Ferg” fans couldn’t have predicted this start.

He snapped a ridiculously long touchdown drought last week, and he is catching passes at a nearly historic rate for his position. He leads all tight ends in receptions by ten, with 34; the next closest is Arizona’s Trey McBride with 24.

That, for lack of a better term, is insane, and we can likely expect it to continue in Week 5 against the Jets.

No Lamb, no Turpin, and Gardner on Pickens might open the floodgates for another stellar showing from Ferguson. If you have him, you have to start him until this hot streak in Dallas cools down.
