Dallas Cowboys in Process of Trading for 6-Time 1,000 Yard Wide Receiver
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys are making some big changes this offseason. Running back Ezekiel Elliot was cut , ending an exciting era for the Dallas offense. However, there are also an exciting addition being made to the offense. Ian Rapoport of  The NFL Network has reported that the Cowboys are trading for wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans. Dallas is sending a fifth and sixth round pick to the Texans for compensation.

The fifth round pick will be in this year’s draft while the sixth round pick is is next year’s.

The Dallas Cowboys Are a Great Fit for Brandin Cooks

Brandin Cooks is a big-play wide receiver that will be just another great weapon for quarterback Dak Prescott. In NFL seasons, Cooks has eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving six times and with four different teams (New Orleans, 2015-2016; New England, 2017; Los Angeles Rams, 2018; Houston, 2020-2021).

Cooks will team up with current Cowboys wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup to make up what is now one of the top wide receiving trios in the entire NFL. All three have at least one 1,000 yard season during their careers, making them an absolute force.

The key, of course, will be remaining healthy. The injury bug has been unfortunate in Dallas over the past several seasons, limiting the time Prescott got to be on the field as well as limiting Gallup to just nine games in 2021. If everyone can stay healthy, head coach Mike McCarthy is going to have a well-oiled machine that will be nearly impossible to stop in the NFC.
