Dallas Cowboys insider provides disappointing yet unsurprising update on Jalen Ramsey trade rumors

The Dallas Cowboys traded for George Pickens earlier in the offseason, which seemingly opens the door for more aggressive moves from the front office than expected as long as the need is as bad as it was at wide receiver.

Well, the level of team need is close when it comes to the cornerback position, which is why reports on the Cowboys being potential suitors for All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade scenario caught the fanbase's attention.

However, former Cowboys scout and insider Bryan Broaddus shared a disappointing update on the matter early on Sunday morning.

"Hearing late last night that the Jalen Ramsey news was not accurate according to a couple of folks I got to talk to," Broaddus posted on Twitter/X. "Don’t think I was getting steered the wrong way."

The report isn't exactly shocking, however. The Cowboys are usually not involved in high-profile trades and there's a massive difference between getting Ramsey and getting Pickens: The All-Pro cornerback is under contract through 2028, which means several contractual complications.

Additionally, the Cowboys already gave up a third-round pick to acquire Pickens. It would be unlike them to give up another significant pick in the same offseason.

And yet, it's the fact that they pulled off such an uncharacteristic move to land a wide receiver that makes it feel like everything is possible for them. Trevon Diggs isn't going to be ready for the season and third-round rookie Shavon Revel Jr. won't be ready to suit up until training camp is already underway.

Are the Cowboys truly comfortable with starting newcomer Kaiir Elam and second-year Caelen Carson (also fighting back from injury)? Or will they try to make a much needed addition to the roster ahead of the 2025 NFL season, Ramsey or else?
