Matt Eberflus is out for the Dallas Cowboys. They relieved Eberflus of his position as defensive coordinator just two days after the Cowboys finished the season with a 7-9-1 record and missed the playoffs for a second straight year.

Multiple coaches followed Eberflus out the door, either by choice or by force. Defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton left to join the Tennessee Titans. Defensive pass game coordinator Andre Curtis, linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi, and secondary/cornerbacks coach David Overstreet were all fired.

The Cowboys replaced Eberflus with Christian Parker, whom they poached from their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas’ new DC, along with the front office, has since been busy building his staff ahead of the new season.

It was reported on Saturday that the Cowboys made their first two hires of the offseason. They brought in former Green Bay Packers coach Derrick Ansley as their new defensive pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach. They also hired Ryan Smith, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals, as their new secondary coach.

According to a new report by ESPN’s Todd Archer, the Cowboys are now turning to the college ranks. The team is reportedly interviewing Georgia Bulldogs outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe on Tuesday for a position on Parker’s staff.

Uzo-Diribe has been with Georgia since 2022. Prior to joining the Bulldogs staff, he also had stints at SMU and TCU.

The fact that the Cowboys are looking for new coaches beyond the NFL is an indication of how exhaustive their search has been. They have more vacancies to fill, which means that there will be more interviews and more coaching hires in the coming weeks/months.
