Dallas Cowboys Set To Let 8X Pro Bowl Starter Flee In Free Agency
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys are set to have a major hole on their roster this offseason as they plan to let an All-Pro starter leave in free agency. The Cowboys have a few major decisions to make with key contracts this offseason, and there’s only so much cap space to go around.

The Dallas Cowboys have cap space issues

Per Over The Cap, the Cowboys are in the red by over $10 million before free agency. The Cowboys are looking at extending Dak Prescott. Owner Jerry Jones wants to go all-in for 2024, and that means the team will spend to add a pass rusher and linebacker in free agency to appease Micah Parsons.

Tyron Smith is heading to free agency

With those issues facing the Cowboys, the team does not plan to extend veteran offensive lineman Tyron Smith. Per Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Smith will head into free agency.

There should be a big market for Smith

The 33-year-old offensive tackle earned his third second-team All-Pro honors for the 2023 season. He’s won All-Pro honors five times in his career.

There should be a robust market for Smith this offseason.
