Dallas Cowboys undrafted rookie is already gaining an advantage over teammate thanks to unique opportunity

Undrafted rookie tight ends playing for the Dallas Cowboys know one thing: They've got a chance to make the 53-man roster.

Brevyn Spann-Ford did it in 2024 . A year before that, John Stephens Jr. was on his way to a roster spot before suffering a preseason injury that knocked him out for the year. In 2025, Tyler Neville and Rivaldo Fairweather will battle to make the team. Chances are, it will be either one of them or none but the pair is unlikely to make it together.

And one of them already has an advantage thanks to a unique opportunity he'll capitalize on this week: Neville will partake in the yearly event Tight End University, hosted by George Kittle, Travis Kelce, and Greg Olsen.

Neville is joining Cowboys teammates Jake Ferguson and Brevyn Spann-Ford at the event. For him to make the event as an undrafted rookie is an honor and a great opportunity to tap into the NFL's best before his first training camp as a pro.

Neville will have to take advantage of the hand he's been dealt if he wants to make the Cowboys' roster in August. He was guaranteed $100,000 as a UDFA signing earlier in the offseason, slightly under Fairweather, which makes the latter the early favorite.

It's not uncommon for position groups around the NFL to host this kind of event to get the best players in the world in the same place and learn together about their positions and how to be successful in the league. But the tight end's edition has become one of the best known ones.

Last year, Dak Prescott was one of few quarterbacks invited to the event and praised the team that puts it together for its quality work.

This year's Tight End University kicked off Monday and will run through Wednesday. In 2024, TEU raised over $900,000 for charitable causes.
