Dallas Goedert says what all Philadelphia Eagles fans are wishing for in 2025

Just a few weeks ago, it looked like Dallas Goedert’s days in Midnight Green might be coming to an end. The Philadelphia Eagles’ star tight end admitted he seriously questioned whether he’d played his last down for the team he’s called home since being drafted seven years ago.

But in the end, things took a different turn.

In a recent conversation with A to Z Sports, Goedert opened up about the uncertainty he faced during contract talks and shared what was going through his mind before he and the Eagles ultimately came to terms on a new deal.

"I was blessed for seven years not having to worry about that in any off-season," Goedert explained. "And being the first time it was, it was a lot more difficult than I expected. I respect all the players that are moving around year after year, because, you know, it was, it was a whole array of motions. You know, at first it was sad you're leaving, and then I was excited about going to a new city and that experience. But, you know, my ultimate goal was to be back with the Eagles. Everything worked out to get me back, so I just put all that behind me."

Goedert's new deal includes $10 million guaranteed and the potential to earn an additional $1 million through incentives.

With one Super Bowl ring already under his belt, Goedert is hungry for more and hopes to run it back in 2025.

"Now I'm super excited to go out there and, you know, have a really good season. Have the opportunity to run it back," Goedert said. "Going back to back would be pretty sweet, but it was, it was a fun off-season. It was a good off-season with the team, and I team. And, you know, I think we're making strides towards the right direction."

Head coach Nick Sirianni has stressed this offseason to his players that it’s time to reset. The focus isn’t on chasing another Super Bowl just yet, but instead it’s about attacking each day and putting in the work from the ground up. Still, it’s tough to ignore the thought of another title run, especially when you’ve already experienced what it feels like to win it all.

Originally selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Goedert has become a cornerstone of their offense. Over seven seasons with the Birds, he’s started 76 games and recorded 349 catches for 4,085 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Given that the Eagles didn’t make any significant moves to add another tight end this offseason, Goedert’s role in the offense remains as vital as ever.
