After an offseason of uncertainty, Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert has made it clear that he is here to stay.

On the second day of the Eagles' OTAs, Goedert spoke to the media for the first time since signing his restructured one-year deal, worth $10 million with incentives of up to $1 million. He shared that there was not 100% on whether he would return to Philadelphia, but is happy to be back.

"Yeah there was a little bit of uncertainty going into the offseason. Talked to my agent, talked with Howie. Yeah, there was a time where you know I wasn't here from the beginning of OTAs. We were trying to figure out what would happen and we came to the agreement of the contract I'm on and I'm super stoked to be back here. Got a lot of love from a lot of people in this building. Got a lot of love from Philadelphia so super glad to be back and you know we got high expectations and want to help us get back to where we were last year."

Goedert also added that he never requested a trade or release from the team during the offseason, as the focus was on reaching an agreement to keep him with the franchise. He shared a simple message with the media.

“Still here. You guys couldn’t get rid of me.”

Goedert is here to stay in Philadelphia

The Eagles selected Goedert in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, as he became the eventual successor to Zach Ertz. In seven seasons, he has caught 349 passes for 4,085 yards and 24 touchdowns in 93 games.

Last year was a down season for Goedert as he statistically had his worst season since his rookie year with 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns. He missed seven games due to injury, a recent issue for Goedert, with 15 games missed over the last three years.

Goedert is the favorite to be the starting tight end on the team as long as the team does not release or trade him. Grant Calcaterra filled in nicely for Goedert when he was out last year and should see more playing time this season.

Among the pass catchers on the roster, Goedert has been one of the most reliable ones on the team. Durability is the one thing holding him back from being placed back in the conversation of the top 10 tight ends in the NFL.

The 30-year-old is on a prove-it deal as it is a contract year. If he can match his productivity from 2021, they might make Goedert a lifelong Eagle.
