Dan Campbell can send a terrifying message with one volcanic Lions trade

The Detroit Lions might just be the best team in the NFL. Not too shabby for a team who had everybody overreacting after just one week, eh?

But, the Lions are just getting started. Although they are 4-1 and possess arguably the league's best offense, it's the defensive side of the ball that could still use some work. It isn't as though the Lions are a bad defense, but they're still middle of the pack, and as we know, that's going to matter come playoff time.

So, what do the Lions do before the trade deadline coming up on November 4? Is it finally time for Detroit to make a game-changing move? There is one particular trade that's been speculated over for a while now, and it doesn't look to be stopping any time soon.

Enter: Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson.

The Detroit Lions would become Super Bowl favorites with a Trey Hendrickson trade

Yes, we're here again. Why? Because it matters. And, it's not all that crazy of an idea.

Look, on the Cincinnati side, they aren't going to contend. Do they really feel like Joe Flacco can keep the team afloat? We'll see, but if in two weeks that hasn't happened, you better believe the trade chatter will heat up around Hendrickson.

On Detroit's side, this is a legitimate contending team. They've been so close the past couple of seasons but haven't been able to get over the hump. Now, with a healthy Aidan Hutchinson who is playing phenomenal ball, the Lions could become even more of a force.

Just imagine putting last year's NFL sack leader opposite Hutchinson. There is not a single offensive line who could contain those two. In fact, I'd go so far as to believe that every single Lions opponent would be forced to keep a sixth blocker up front, in some fashion, on every single play.

If they didn't, one of Hutchinson or Hendrickson would get to the quarterback on a very, very regular basis. The two of them have already combined for 9.0 sacks early on.

It sounds like a costly trade at first glance, trading for last year's top sack artist. However, Hendrickson is in the final year of his contract and almost didn't even play for the Bengals this year, as it is. The two sides couldn't come to an agreement on a new deal and ultimately, Hendrickson's one-year contract was re-worked.

He's still set to be a free agent next season, and there is no way he wants to continue playing in Cincinnati with the way he's been treated.

Let's say the Lions offered Cincinnati a third-round pick along with a fourth-round pick swap. Would that be enough to get it done? Again, it might sound like far too little. But, this is a player the Bengals likely won't have next year.

If a deal like this were to happen, you can bank on the Lions becoming an instant Super Bowl favorite, as if they weren't already.
