Dan Campbell kicks Lions player out of practice for being too physical

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has never shied away from violence. He generally wants his players to bring that to the table along with intensity and fervor. But on Tuesday, that was not what he was looking for and it wound up with a player getting kicked out of practice.

The Lions are not in pads yet and are still in the acclimation process of camp. They're playing in shorts, and this is mainly a period to just get players back into the habit of playing football again. But Tuesday was a day full of physicality, and Campbell had to stop practice multiple times to get everyone to calm down. Then he kicked safety Morcie Norris out of practice altogether.

Norris, or as I personally like to call him, Diet Brian Branch, is a second-year player with the Lions. He has a lot of versatility and is expected to be someone who can challenge for a spot on the 53-man roster. While he got kicked out of practice, you shouldn't expect him to get kicked off the team or further punished in any way.

Campbell announced earlier Tuesday that the Lions will be in pads for the first time this Friday. So the physicality can really get going then. But Campbell is right at the moment. It's too early for it now.
