Dan Campbell Reveals One Thing College Players Can Do to Get Taken Off Lions' Draft Board

The standard for Detroit Lions players has been clear since the day Dan Campbell took over as the team's head coach.

Campbell wants grinders and guys who are ready to compete at a high level.

With that standard set, Campbell's thoughts on the college players he is looking to avoid shouldn't come as a big surprise.

During a recent appearance on the LiucciCast, Campbell revealed that college players who have transferred multiple times are being taken off of the Lions' draft board.

"This doesn't look like it's going my way. And I don't think I'm gonna start. I'm just leaving, and then you go to the next place, and it just looks like it may not be going where you want to Okay, well then I'm going to leave that school too, or I'm leaving this spring to go somewhere else. Well, we don't want those guys. I mean, you're looking at guys that transfer two or three times. Like, to me, you're scared of competition. So we just, I don't want to say with every one of them, but we just get them off the board. It's not worth it."

The Lions only drafted three players this year who had transferred during their college careers.

Two of those players transferred to play football at a higher level, with Isaac TeSlaa jumping from a Division II school to Arkansas for his last two college seasons and Miles Frazier moving from FIU to LSU for his last three years.

The other transfer was seventh rounder Dominic Lovett, who actually transferred from Missouri to Georgia. The move kept him in the same conference and didn't change his role much, but it seems the Lions weren't concerned about the move.

With the transfer portal becoming a larger part of the college football landscape, it will be interesting to see if the Lions maintain this philosophy in future.

For now, it seems any college player with hopes of joining the Lions when they reach the NFL will need to keep this policy in mind before heading for the portal.
