The Philadelphia Eagles played an outstanding second half against the LA Rams, forcing themselves back into a game that appeared to be lost.

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles struggled to move the football at all in the first half on Sunday, which led to the Rams taking a 26-7 lead in the third quarter.

It was then that an inspired performance from Hurts and the offense flipped the script, and Dan Orlovsky couldn’t wait to talk about it on Get Up on Monday.

Orlovsky said that Jalen Hurts’ performance in the second half is the reason he’s a top-five quarterback

Before the 2025 NFL season started, there was a lot of talk about Jalen Hurts’ ability as a pure quarterback, and whether he belonged in the top 10 conversation amongst his peers.

To many, that seemed like a wild debate to have because he’s the reigning Super Bowl MVP, and just helped his team to secure the win in that Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cam Newton called him a game manager, and Colin Cowherd ranked him ninth in his preseason top ten, behind the quarterback he just beat, Matthew Stafford, who was ranked sixth.

On Sunday, Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown guided the Philadelphia Eagles back into a game that they seemingly had no business being competitive in.

At halftime, the Eagles had just 34 yards of total offense. AJ Brown didn’t have a single catch, and their offense had failed to get Saquon Barkley and the run game going too.

After conceding a touchdown in the third quarter, Hurts and the Eagles finally found a little rhythm, which all stemmed from a completion by the QB to Brown down the right sideline.

Hurts then hit Dallas Goedert over the middle, splitting coverage for a touchdown that kick-started an inspired comeback.

Jalen Hurts proceeded to throw three total touchdowns late in the game, including the eventual go-ahead score to DeVonta Smith on a drive guided by AJ Brown.

Dan Orlovsky took a moment to recognize Hurts’ performance on Monday morning, saying:

“That second half was about as good as I’ve seen him play. About as good as you can play. There were three or four plays in that second half that you go ‘that’s the play of the game.’ The double move to AJ Brown, the touchdown pass to AJ Brown when he checks it, the third and 10 in route to DeVonta Smith…’

He continued: “It was just unbelievable I love the way that they put AJ Brown by himself on those third downs and just said, ‘we’ve got the best receiver in football’. The thing that stands out to me, the throws were perfect.”

Finally, Orlovsky wrapped his complimentary segment by saying:

“All that dude [Hurts] does, is find a way to win that game, and goes and does it. That’s why you’ve got to put him in your top five.”

Jalen Hurts continues his incredible run of form with late comeback against the Rams

The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles are now 3-0 on the season, which means their undefeated run continues.

Jalen Hurts has now won the last 17 games he’s started (and finished), with 43 touchdowns in total and only five turnovers.

As Dan Orlovsky said, all Jalen Hurts does is win. He’s one of the most unique quarterbacks in the game, which often means analysts struggle to pigeonhole his skillset into their rankings.

However, the results and the scoreboard at the end of the fourth quarter are all that matters, and Jalen Hurts just keeps winning.
