The Chicago Bears have had a rough start to the new season. They’ve suffered back-to-back losses to two NFC North division rivals, including Week 2’s embarrassing 52-21 blowout loss to the Detroit Lions.

The Bears are now looking to score their first win of the season, and their next opportunity to do so is on Sunday against a Dallas Cowboys side that is coming off a thrilling 40-37 overtime victory against the New York Giants in Week 2.

The good news for Chicago is that they caught a significant break heading into their home game against Dallas. This comes in the form of top running back D’Andre Swift being cleared to play amid his quad injury.

This report comes via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

“#Bears RB D’Andre Swift, dealing with a quad injury, will play on Sunday against the #Cowboys, source said,” Rapoport posted on X.

This is a crucial development for the Bears, who should have a more balanced attack against Dallas’ Micah Parsons-less defense. Swift, who possesses big-play potential whenever he touches the ball, will be looking to add to his tally after scoring his first touchdown of the season against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1.

It is worth noting, however, that the quad injury limited Swift in practice throughout the week. In fact, he was initially listed as questionable to play against the Cowboys.

This only means that Swift likely will not be a hundred percent on Sunday. However, having him on the field is still a considerable boost for the Bears.
