Daniel Jeremiah Predicts Broncos Could Face Rookie Jaxson Dart in Week 7

On an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah said he could see Jaxson Dart getting his first career start for the New York Giants in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.

Jeremiah pointed out that the Giants play the Philadelphia Eagles the previous week on a Thursday night. It would allow the Giants to keep their rookie quarterback from facing the Eagles' defense twice, and it would give him a 10-day period to prepare for his first NFL start.

The extended rest and time for preparation would be ideal for Dart in making his first career start, as Eisen pointed out, the Giants' bye week is not until Week 14.

The Giants' quarterback room consists of Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Dart. Wilson will likely start the season as the starter after signing a one-year, $10.5 million deal this offseason.

However, Brian Daboll seems confident in his first-round pick, and Jeremiah thinks he's itching to get him into games early.

"Everything I've read about Dart seems to be pretty positive ... I think he's got a chance to play pretty darn early here. We'll see how it goes. You just kind of listen to the words of Brian Daboll and you got the sense that (Dart) was his guy," Jeremiah said. "He's invested in him. He seems to really, really like him. He had Josh Allen, and once they got him in there, they were able to learn through some of the mistakes and get to a really good place. It sounds a little different, the way he's talking about (Dart).

"To me, that makes it sound like this isn't something that's a redshirt year for him as they hand the ball to Wilson for a full season. I think we're going to see a lot of Dart this year."

Dart has seemed to impress throughout OTAs and minicamp so far this offseason, and training camp will be another opportunity for him to make his case for playing time in 2025.

If the Giants do pull the plug and start Dart in week 7 against the Broncos, it won't be a cakewalk for the rookie. The Eagles' defense ranked second in the league in points allowed in 2024, but the Broncos ranked third. Denver also led the league with 63 sacks.

The Giants' opponents weeks seven through nine are the Broncos, Eagles, and 49ers. That could be a disruptive welcome to the league for the Giants' rookie.
