Once again, the Atlanta Falcons' speedy wide receiver, Darnell Mooney, will look to be an integral part of the offense. Last season, he was targeted 106 times and had 64 receptions for 5 touchdowns. He also totaled just under 1,000 yards receiving with 992.
Like every other player on the offense, Atlanta will look to increase his production because Michael Penix is still a young quarterback entrusted to lead the offense. In 2020, Mooney was a fifth-round selection for the Chicago Bears. Since then, he has scored 16 touchdowns in the NFL.
During the first day of the Atlanta Falcons OTAs, Mooney was asked what he would be looking to get out of the offense, and he said, " Just get to moving around, get acclimated to everybody being in the huddle, get out of the huddle fast enough, and just understand the beginning of the play and all of that."
When asked what expectations he was already setting for himself during year two in Atlanta, Mooney would say, "Nothing right now. I am just looking at what we can do best, figuring out our identity again, and just figuring out what we can do best."
Mooney would also be asked about getting close to the 1,000-yard mark and whether that would serve as a career resurgent, and he would say, "I didn't really come here for 1,000 yards; I came here to win, I came here to win games."
Mooney is already proving to be a veteran leader in Atlanta and will look to translate all of the work on the field come Sunday's this fall.
