Davante Adams defends surprising player while blasting Raiders

When signing with the Los Angeles Rams, wide receiver Davante Adams will be reuniting with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

The two were teammates on the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, and it was clear that Adams did not think too highly of Garoppolo’s abilities. In the Netflix documentary “Receiver,” Adams was clearly not impressed with Garoppolo, and he indicated as much by signing off on the decision to bench the free agent in favor of then fourth-round rookie Aidan O’Connell. However, if Rams starting quarterback Matthew Stafford gets hurt, the wide receiver will be back catching passes from his former nemesis.

In somewhat surprising fashion, though, Adams is backtracking his comments while also partaking in his favorite pastime: roasting his former team.

Adams blames the Raiders once again for the issue between him and Garoppolo.

On an interview with ESPN LA’s Sedona and Kap Show, Adams cleared the air between him and Garoppolo, all the while throwing shade at the Raiders.

“It’s amazing,” Adams said. “I love Jimmy. It was never a personal thing, and I was hoping we didn’t have to have these [conversations] — I’m surprised this is the first time it’s been brought up. It’s been amazing. We got to catch up and get on the right page.”

“Obviously, that was just a dark moment in all of our lives. I think all of us were pretty miserable over there. And we kind of caught up and laughed about it and we’ve been making plays since we’ve been out here, so it’s been fun.”

Despite the front office from Adams’s time in Las Vegas being long gone, that has not stopped the wide receiver from burying his former team at every turn.

A number of issues have come to light on Adams’s side during his tenure with the Raiders, from the handling of his contract to the release of former quarterback and friend Derek Carr. Ever since leaving Las Vegas, he has had no problem putting the Raiders on blast whenever the opportunity has presented itself.

Needless to say, Raiders fans have moved on from Adams, even if the receiver’s bad blood has not stopped yet.
