Davante Adams gets honest after another quiet outing in Raiders win

In their first game of the Antonio Pierce era, mostly everything went right for the Las Vegas Raiders. In the team's Week 9 beatdown of the New York Giants, Las Vegas scored a season-high 30 points and collected eight sacks defensively.

Despite the Raiders brilliance on both sides of the ball, All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams continued to underwhelm under the new regime in Las Vegas. Tallying a modest four receptions for 34 yards in the victory, Adams is happy with the strides the offense made against New York but would prefer to be more of a focal point to elevate the unit's play even further.

"Like I said, all that other stuff will take care of itself. But do I want to catch more balls? Of course," Adams admitted to reporters after the game. "Why would I not? But, I mean, at the end of the day, like I told you before, this isn't about me. This is about the team and my whole want to catch more balls is to turn 30 [points] into 40 or 50. I mean, that's why it's for the team, so I'm good with it."

Adams, 30, is enduring one of the most lackluster stretches of his career. In Week 3, the six-time Pro Bowler confirmed he's still one of the league's elite pass-catchers, accounting for 172 yards and two touchdowns on 13 receptions. Yet, over his last five games, Adams has amassed just 176 total yards receiving. During that span, he's not eclipsed four receptions in any outing and has failed to find the end zone.

Smoking victory cigars in the locker room after the win, optimism in Sin City is sky-high following the firing of Josh McDaniels. Still, at some point, the Raiders will need to feature their $140 million receiver or trade him to a team that will.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the New York Jets inquired about acquiring Adams at the trade deadline. While no deal materialized, a reunion with quarterback Aaron Rodgers would likely remain in the cards this offseason should Adams' production close out the year at its current pace.
