Davante Adams just gave Eagles' Quinyon Mitchell bulletin board material

Trash talk is a part of the game, but what Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams said before the Rams- Philadelphia Eagles game might prove to be a massive mistake.

Adams appeared on ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown on Sunday morning as he was asked about facing Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. The veteran wide receiver has some choice words for Mitchell.

“He’s a great young player ... But I’m hoping I can show him a few things he's never seen, never had to deal with before today.”

Adams has no idea what he just did

The truth about Mitchell is that it has been a mixed sophomore year in Philly. He has a PFF grade of 65.9. On 12 targets, he has made seven receptions, which is tied for 27th in the NFL.

Mitchell is coming off a fantastic rookie season with the Eagles, as he finished second in the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. He had two key interceptions in the postseason to help the Eagles win the Super Bowl.

Going into the season, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has wanted Mitchell to blanket each team's number one receivers throughout the 2025 season. It hasn't quite happened that way, but that can all change in the Rams game with Adams being the clear-cut number one receiver on Los Angeles.

This will be a good test for Mitchell, as he had a mixed performance against Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb and then last week in the Chiefs' win, played decently outside of a deep ball touchdown pass being allowed. The Eagles need to see more support for Mitchell, though, as his CB2, Adoree' Jackson, has struggled.

Mitchell has a chance to silence Adams and show him a few things he has learned in his short two-year NFL career.
