New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams is likely to become a free agent again in the very near future and based on the game he just had, it's clear that teams are going to want him. But there's one team that Adams has no intentions of ever playing for.
Appearing on Up & Adams with Kay Adams, the Jets wide receiver was asked if he would ever play for the Chicago Bears, her favorite team and the arch-rivals of his former team the Green Bay Packers. But Adams didn't need to think for more than a moment before bluntly giving his answer:
"No," he said, causing Kay Adams' control room to burst out laughing.
Kay Adams wasn't satisfied with the answer though and pressed him for his reason. Adams wouldn't go into specifics, but stated that he doesn't plan on playing much longer to begin with and doesn't intend to finish his playing days with the Bears.
"No, just a hard no?" she asked. "You would never play for the Bears? Why?"
"Look, I'm not playing too much longer as it is. So on my last days in this league, after all I've been blessed with, I will not be going to Chicago. I respect everyone I play, but I'm not playing for the Bears, no," he replied.
Adams made a mini-career out of beating up on the Chicago Bears while he was a member of the Packers and even the Raiders. In 17 games against the Monsters of the Midway, Adams had 88 receptions for 1,081 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Adams went 14-2 against Chicago while a member of the Packers and lost his one start against them as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders last year.
But Adams has also proven that he's got a lot more good football left in him. This past weekend he had nine receptions for 198 yards and two touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with all of that production coming in the second half alone.
Adams has 67 receptions for 860 yards and six touchdowns this season, with most of that production coming in the eight games he's played for the Jets.
