The 2025 college football offseason is about to begin as students wrap up their final exams and prepare for summer workouts.
During this period, teams are focused on identifying and addressing weaknesses in their programs before the new season starts. These weaknesses often arise from the loss of key players to the NFL draft or the transfer portal.
The Georgia Bulldogs are one such team that experienced significant player losses. They had 13 players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, with four chosen in the first two rounds.
Additionally, the Bulldogs lost 19 players to the transfer portal, most notably star quarterback Carson Beck, who transferred to the Miami Hurricanes.
David Pollack discussed on his podcast, "See Ball Get Ball with David Pollack," that he is most concerned about Georgia identifying its star players for 2025.
"I look at the Georgia roster and I go, where is the position group that is going to dominate?" Pollack said.
"Last year, I could pick several positions. I could pick a returning quarterback who was elite of elite. I could pick linebackers all over the field who were great. A safety who we knew was going to get picked in the first round. People get upset and they are like, 'Well, we've been recruiting top-notch talent,' Well, where is it going to go?"
As Pollack pointed out, Georgia has excelled in recruiting over the past several years. In the last three seasons, the Bulldogs have finished either No. 1 or No. 2 in the nation in recruiting.
While the talent is evident on paper, the real question is whether the players can live up to that potential, especially since they haven't had many opportunities to showcase their skills on the field.
The Bulldogs rank No. 105 in returning production, with only 45% of their total production returning. In terms of offensive production, they rank No. 108, with just 41% returning, and on defense, they rank No. 93 at 48%.
This situation means that new players will need to step up if Georgia hopes to win the SEC again and regain its national championship form.
