The College Football Playoff is still not until December, but David Pollack updated his rankings heading into Week 8.
In Week 7, there were great games to watch, such as "The Red River Rivalry," No. 8 Alabama vs. No. 14 Missouri and No. 15 Michigan vs. USC.
Although No. 2 Miami did not play in Week 7, the Hurricanes had done enough in the eyes of Pollack to be considered his No. 1 team in his updated College Football Playoff Rankings on a recent episode of "See Ball Get Ball with David Pollack."
Miami is 5-0 overall and 1-0 in ACC play heading into the Week 8 slate.
"This is such a fun exercise to do the top 12," Pollack said. "Again, the committee will come out like, you know, coming up very soon, actually. And if we rolled it out today, if the ball was spotted. I think this is how it would go. Some interesting shakeups. Miami, still at one. We've made that very clear on how we feel on See Ball Get Ball."
Despite its recent success, Miami has never made the playoff since it was introduced to college football in 2014. The Hurricanes were ranked as high as No. 4 last season, in the first year of the 12-team format.
However, Miami fell out of the CFP race and finished the 2024 season with a record of 10-3.
Head coach Mario Cristobal is in his fourth season with the program and has an overall record of 27-16, with two bowl appearances.
Miami looks to move to 6-0 on Friday, taking on Louisville at Hard Rock Stadium. The Cardinals come into the matchup at 4-1 overall and 1-1 in ACC play.
Kickoff between the Hurricanes and Cardinals will be from Miami Gardens, Florida, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
