Daylen Baldwin to Undergo Surgery and Miss 6-8 Weeks
USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Daylen Baldwin who was waived with an injury designation following Thursday night's preseason game versus the New York Jets will undergo surgery that will keep him out of action for six to eight weeks according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Pelissero is reporting that Baldwin tore a small tendon behind his knee during the first half of the Browns 21-16 preseason win over the Jets. The timing of the injury is very unfortunate for the receiver in his second season out of Michigan. By all accounts Baldwin has had a tremendous offseason followed up by several impressive performances to start Training Camp.

When speaking about Baldwin to the media on Friday, head coach Kevin Stefanski had some high praise for him while discussing how it is tough to see guys go down with injuries during the preseason, "I feel for the kid, he's done so many good things for us over these months." Moments later he added that "Daylen is a guy that has been very diligent in this building, he is a guy that all throughout the month of June, when I popped my head in here, he happened to be in here and in that weight room."

Additionally, Pelissero states that they will do an injury settlement and that the Browns hope to bring him back. According to the timeframe of 6-8 weeks, that would have him ready to possibly return by early October. At that point the hope would probably be to get him back on the practice squad which is where he spent most of last season. He played in one game last year against Baltimore, where he appeared to flash a connection with Deshaun Watson, catching both of his targets for 25 yards.
