DeAndre Hopkins Believes He Could Be the Final Piece in Ravens’ Puzzle

Following an underwhelming season with the Kansas City Chiefs, DeAndre Hopkins signed for conference rivals the Baltimore Ravens. Hopkins revealed he can be the final piece of the puzzle for Lamar Jackson to win a Super Bowl.

The Ravens have been knocking on the door of a third Lombardi Trophy for quite some time. Jackson was on song once more, leading the league in yards per throw (8.8) and passer rating (119.6), apart from throwing 41 touchdowns and 4000+ yards.

However, the Ravens faltered against the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round. Tight end Mark Andrews dropped a crucial touchdown pass that was their ticket to consecutive AFC title games.

Andrews is still part of the Ravens roster, but the Ravens needed someone who rarely fumbles any pass.

DeAndre Hopkins played in his first Super Bowl while wearing the Chiefs reds, but the season was average compared to his high standards. The 33-year-old caught 41 passes for 437 yards and 4 touchdowns in 10 games for KC and a further three passes in the entire playoffs.

KC’s regular receivers returned from injury, and they realized it was best to release the aging guy who covered $12 million on their salary cap. Hopkins left the Chiefs and signed for the Ravens in March.

During a recent interview with ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Hopkins claimed that he could be the receiver the AFC North franchise has been waiting for all these years.

It seems like there’s been a piece that’s been missing. I could be that addition [or] I could not be that addition.

DeAndre Hopkins believes the Ravens are ready to challenge the Chiefs and the Eagles

The Chiefs are the team to beat, even though last year they were offensively ranked far lower than they should have been. Baltimore, on the other hand, dominated every team by averaging 400+ yards and a total of 65 touchdowns.

They ranked 10th defensively, allowing just 39 overall touchdowns all season and having the best rushing defense, limiting teams to an average of just under 90 yards per game. It came down to a lack of killer instinct, which cost the Ravens the game against the Bills in the postseason.

Jackson has to rally the team once again. If he clicks, then the Ravens have a fair shot at going all the way. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the AFC North club is tied with the Bills at +700 to win Super Bowl 60 at Levi’s Stadium in 2026.

Jackson has significant targets like Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Isaiah Likely, but Hopkins may turn out to be the clutch player they have been looking for.

[DHop] is different. He caught the ball so smoothly and got up [easily]. I don’t even think he put his other hand on the ground to get up; he just caught the ball and just started [running]. That’s some super vet type of stuff. It’s just dope to have him [here], and I am looking forward to throwing a lot of touchdowns to him this yea.

Hopkins has played a total of 12 seasons and 178 games in the NFL since his debut for the Houston Texans. In those games, DHop amassed 12,965 yards and 83 touchdowns on 984 receptions. Hopkins will make his Ravens debut against Josh Allen’s Bills in Buffalo in week one of the 2025 season.
