DeAndre Hopkins traded to Super Bowl contender

It appears that DeAndre Hopkins has become the latest Pro Bowl wide receiver to change teams ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a trade to send Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs, according to multiple reports. The Chiefs are giving up a fifth-round draft pick that could become a fourth-round pick depending on Hopkins’ performance.

Hopkins has gotten off to a slow start this season with just 15 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown. The lack of production is hardly a surprise given that he is a 32-year-old receiver who has been catching passes (or trying to) from Will Levis and Mason Rudolph. The five-time Pro Bowl wideout still managed to catch 75 passes for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns last season while playing in 17 games.

The Chiefs had a major need for a wide receiver after Rashee Rice suffered a season-ending injury on a freak play in Week 4. Kansas City had been linked to one other former All-Pro receiver as well.

While Hopkins may not be as explosive as he was in his prime, he should be a lot more productive working with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes than he was in Tennessee.
