Decision Day: What will Rams do with wide receiver Brandin Cooks?

It's decision day for the Los Angeles Rams on wide receiver Brandin Cooks as they look to reset for the 2020 season.

Cooks has an $8 million base salary in 2020 and that, along with his $4 million roster bonus, is due Thursday, according to Joel Corry of CBS Sports.

The Rams are reportedly looking to trade Cooks and if they are unable to find a trade partner then they'll most likely be releasing the 26-year-old.

Cooks had a down year in 2019, catching 42 passes for 583 yards and two touchdowns. Before 2019, the 26-year-old had five consecutive 1,000-plus yard seasons with at least five touchdowns.

The wide receiver is signed through 2023, and his 2020 cap hit of $16.8 million will only increase as the years go on.

Los Angeles is in a tight cap situation after putting most of their money into big deals for Jared Goff, Aaron Donald, Cooks and recently released running back Todd Gurley. With their championship window rapidly closing, the Rams are looking to cut costs any way possible and restore their draft pick coffers.
